Join us for Breakfast for Your Brain every Monday and Wednesday from 9:15 AM to 10:00 AM.  This program is designed to help you improve your memory, think more clearly and have a more positive attitude about your life.  And—you’ll have fun doing it.  We’ll be using humor, puzzles, optical illusions, word games and other exercises to help you strengthen your brain power.

We will be offering a Memoir Writing Workshop with Sara Wenger, MS, MFA at 12 noon.  Participants will experience writing exercises to help write their unique life experiences so they can be passed on to children, grandchildren, friends and others. No prior writing experience is necessary! The class is appropriate for both novice and seasoned writers.

He is available to clean and check your hearing aids, provide a hearing screening, and answer any questions you might have.

AARP Smart Driver Safety Program

Our next AARP Smart Driver Safety Program will be held on Tuesday, September 11 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This is a refresher course for those of you who have already taken the full 8 hour program. When you come to the class, you will need to bring proof with you that you have taken the course before. If you can’t find your copy of the notice that was sent to your insurance company, you can call your insurance company for some kind of verification to bring with you.

The cost for the class is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-AARP members. Payment is by check only, made out to AARP the day of the class. Please call the Center to register.

Memory Cafe

We are teaming up with Arden Courts Memory Care Community to host a Memory Café here at the Center twice a month. A Memory Café is a social gathering and support group specifically for people living with dementia and their caregivers.  Enjoy coffee, conversation, and information on community resources in a safe and supportive environment.  The Memory Café will take place on the following Tuesdays from 2PM to 3PM-July 10 and August 10.

Delaware County Senior Games

The Delaware County Senior Games will be held Monday, June 11 through Friday, June 22. Events will be held in bocce, bowling, shuffleboard, golf, billiards, horseshoes, table tennis, pickleball, Wii bowling, track and field, and more! You can participate as an athlete or as a volunteer. Volunteers can serve as timekeepers, registrars, starters, judges, award presenters and organizers. If you need more information or would like to participate in the games as an athlete or volunteer, please contact Lisa. Registration forms are available at the front desk at the Center.

National Senior Health and Fitness Day

Come celebrate the 25th Annual National Senior Health and Fitness Day with us on Wednesday, May 30! We will be joining over 150,000 older adults throughout the country who will be participating in this special event. This year’s theme is “Active Today…Healthier Tomorrow!” and there are plenty of ways to get you moving here at the Center! Whether it’s Zumba, line dancing, yoga, tai chi, tap dancing or chair/stand up aerobic classes, there is something for everyone! 

We will begin our Functional Fitness/Silver Sneakers Classic class at 10:00 AM. Afterwards, we will be presenting our annual Wayne Senior Center Fitness Awards at 10:45 AM. The first award, the Senior Center Fitness Award, will go to the person who has been most dedicated to improving their health through the morning exercise program. Our second award, the WSC Fitness Cup, will go to our Fitness Center member who has proven their dedication to his or her workout. Healthy refreshments will follow. Please join us as we celebrate your commitment to maintain and improve your health and fitness!

Wreath Decorating Workshop

We are so happy to be hosting the Radnor Memorial Library’s annual holiday wreath decorating workshop on Thursday, December 7 at 7 PM.  Heather Potter, owner of Cottage Flowers in Malvern, will be teaching the workshop. Heather brings fresh wreaths and an abundance of natural decorations (and more) to decorate your wreath.  Class size is limited but we have reserved 5 spots for Wayne Senior Center members with the Library.  The cost is $20 for materials and is due at registration. Are you new to sewing and looking for fun and easy sewing projects? Join Keith Geary the first Thursday of each month at 2PM to complete a simple sewing project. On Thursday, November 2, learn how to make Acorn Coasters with fun fall fabric.
